Diary of a wimpy kid is a satirical realistic fiction novel written by Jeff Kinney, an American game designer, cartoonist, actor and author of books for children. It took him about eight years to finish it. In 2004 an online version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid was released. Later, in 2007 the book was finally published. Since then, millions of copies have been sold.

I decided to read it because Alejandro suggested it in class.

This book is the story of a weak eleven-year-old boy named Greg Heffley and his adventures and struggles in Middle School.

The author describes situations of daily life of a teenager. Using coloquial language and the most common expressions among boys at that age.

The main characters are, Greg Heffley, the protagonist, and his best friend, Rowley Jefferson who is always willing to do what Greg tells him.

Other characters are, his older brother, Rodrick Heffley who always tries to terrorize and to embarrass Greg. Manny Heffley is little Greg´s brother. And, of course his parents.

"It´s not a Diary but a journal!" Greg insists...

It´s a new school year. He writes about everything that happens to him. About his thoughts, his feelings, his hopes and his fears...

The author pays special attention to relationships among children. So, he shows us how Greg gets into trouble with his family, friends, classmates and simple acquaintances, all the time.

Greg seems like a hopeless boy. Many times he´s a complete disaster at home, at school, everywhere.

Apparently ,at the end of the story, he´s going to finish the year by breaking up his relationship with Rowley...

It is a very entertaining book full of funny stories and situations. It is really easy to read. However, there are lots of new words and expressions that I didn´t know, used just by teenagers. That is why it is also an interesting book which has enriched my vocabulary so much.

So, definitely I recommend it.
